The Yankee Postman Gift and Gadget Outlet opened in 2005 in South Deerfield, as the first retail outlet of the long successful J.H. Smith Company, Inc. of Greenfield. J.H. Smith has been a leading manufacturing and importing company for over 50 years, supplying mail order catalog companies and retail Businesses with unique and specialty products. The Yankee Postman Gift & Gadget Outlet is located on Route 5 & 10, between Yankee Candle and Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory.

  J.H. Smith has been a local family owned company for over five decades, and is directed by Chairperson Jeane Smith and President Wayne Sittig. Sherrill Smith, Vice President of Sales works from the Los Angeles office. The company occupies 100,000 square feet of Greenfield plant and office space including the main facility at 330 Chapman Street. They employ just under 50 people, and design many of the products they sell, including a long time best seller for a major bed and bath company. Products at the outlet include items that appeal to both men and women in categories from home and garden to pets and even jewelry. All items will be first quality but sold at factory outlet discount prices, at or lower than mail order company prices. Many products will be sold at liquidation closeout prices.

  "We have a vibrant, energized company....staffed with incredibly capable and dedicated people, our newest venture was a natural expansion for us" states Company President Wayne Sittig. "Making our products available direct to the public in a retail setting, saves the consumer middle man expenses, avoids shipping costs and waiting for mailed deliveries. At the same time it helps us sharpen our eye toward buying trends, adjusting production and supply, thus ultimately better serving the customers of the wholesale division."

  Additional Yankee Postman Outlets are planned, initially throughout New England, however no schedule or locations have been finalized at this time. Gifts they will offer include gardening tools, , kitchenware, BBQ tools, bed and bath, home decor, storage solutions, space savers, organizers, jewelry, pet items, toys, cookware and many unusal household gadgets.
